I've been wracking my little math challenged brain, and I think something I said higher up is probably the effective factor. With the torpedo in the tube, you have the weight of the torpedo, but the torpedo obviously doesn't fill the entire tube and when it's flooded you probably have two or three hundred pounds of water in addition to the torpedo. Not an accurate estimate, really, but say combined weight of about 3500~3800 pounds in the tube. Most of the water would be around the warhead and the tapered afterbody, not so much around the cylindrical section in between.
On firing, of course, the torpedo is expelled and the water that fills the tube weighs just about the same as the torpedo alone, so the bow is now light by the difference in the combined weight of torpedo and water and water alone. Beach certainly was concerned about the bow broaching, and this seems like the most logical reason.
