My Dad was Frederick Feather, a memorable type of name, and was telegraphist on HMS Hartland.
After the operation, his family didn't know of his survival, but his young cousin went to 'The Longford' picture house in Stretford, and saw my dad, her cousin, on the Pathe Newsreel, standing in a line sharing a cup of tea with fellow survivors.
She then ran the distance to Trafford Park where his mother lived and they ran back to the cinema and after the film in progress was finished, the Pathe News was shown and my Nana saw that her eldest son, Fred, had survived.
It would be such a delight to see any photos that other shipmates families.
My parents divorced and many photos went missing.
