Hi there,
My father, Robert McKay, was a telegraphist on board HMS Hartland. He survived and was taken prisoner, he passed away in 1987. Much like the other contributers he did not speak much about it, although i believe he had to swim ashore. The only comment he ever made would be relative to someone he knew in the navy which was, "the last time i saw them, he was lying dead on the deck". I would very much appreciate a copy of the crew picture if you are able to provide one.
I have a newspaper cutting from the Glasgow herald from May 19th 1943 regarding the Oran exploit if you are interested in seeing it. It relates to a Captain Peters.
Kind regards,
Ronald McKay
