<HTML> With possession of the XXI in \'43 Germany might have stalled the inevitable loss of the war for a while longer, maybe.
For me, the most chilling question will always remain: what would have happened if Dönitz had had his desired 300 U-Boats in \'39? Britain might very well have fallen as a result of that, as early as 1941. The consequence would have been that a lot of German troops would have been relocated to the Eastern Front. Who knows, that might have led to the fall of Moscow there, leading to a end of the hosilities by either a truce or even a German victory.
Without allies, without a bridgehead to jump to Europe, with their own war against the Japanese on their hands, would the States have tried to invade German Europe at all? I don\'t think it was impossible that the States would have beaten the Japanese (in early \'45, given the freeing up of resources that otherwise would have gone to Europe) and taken the European situation as a fait accompli.
Funny, but scary game, this speculation about what if...</HTML>
