<HTML>Always very popular these subjects.......
Yet, also deeply misleading in there conclusions;
Pre War Germany had many \'good\' reasons for not investing in such a large U-boat fleet. If you want to argue the case of what would of happened if they had the foresight to get 300 U-boats by 1939 you could easily ask the opposite question of the Royal Navy, what if they had the foresight to begin a large escort programme sooner and invest in equiping the majority with radar. Both sides went to war seriously lacking in the equipment both believed they needed.
If you argue for a sudden change in the planning of one side then why not argue the same of the other? Would it not be equally interesting to argue if only the British had taken the U-boat threat seriously far sooner it would have meant this feature of the war wasn\'t even remembered as being siginificant. (indeed most of us would\'nt be here talking about U-boats now if they had).</HTML>
