<HTML> Thanks for the response SuperKraut.
After seeing the condition of most metal items just \"at\" the coast or in seawater only after a few years is what prompted my question. Apparently when the Wilhelm was scuttled they just opened the valves and let her sink.
I have a U-boat book that discusses the political aspects of a sub that large coming into the new german navy. It also discussed the political aspects of getting U-995 as a museum piece instead of scrapping it. I know 995 is the only type VII on display but is it the only type VII left?
BAck to the Wilhelm....How was it raised and how deep was the water it was sunk in. I do not mean to ask so many questions but I am sure I won\'t be going over there any time soon to buy the book so thanks for helping to satisfy my curiosity. Is there not much written on it because of the secrecy about raising it?
