In historical magazine " Flotomaster " # 5, 2000 was published ?lause by A. Kuznetzov "Losses of uboats of opponents of the USSR in the Second World War". The author tries to understand it with myths and to give the objective analysis in each case in Arctic regions, Baltic and to Black sea. At present it is the fullest and clear historical analysis made in Russia. It can be read ( on Russian) through here:

As the destiny of some German boats on Baltic 1944 is now reconsidered. The summer of this year in Russia publishs the new book about German boats of VII type. In it there is a chapter about actions on Baltic 1944-45 where Miroslav Morozov has come to conclusion, that U 679 has not fallen a victim Soviet anti-submarine vessel MO 124. More detailed analysis of the German and Soviet documents has given other version of its destiny. MO 124 attacked in the evening of 9.1.1945 other submarine U 637. U-679 probably was lost on mines put by the Soviet trawlers with 23.12.1944. You can read through details in "Hitler's Steel Sharks. Type VII" by M.Morozov and V. Nagirnyak, p. 109.
