Well, I have been working for the last 19 years on a database of losses & damages to warships & militarized vesels starting at 1/1/1860, trying to get as many details as possible on each case.
This, of course, brought about the necessity to gather as much info as possible on each case. There is no "personal" interest in any case, just investigative.
