Brian,thanks a lot for your response. I guees your information will be usefull to me. I`m writting an article about Soviet`s TOWN-class destroyers transferred to the USSR in 1944. I saw your conversation with Nahimov and he wrote me as well. I`m still confused about the data. There are no any doubts in Russia about the event. It is wildly proclaimed in Soviet/Russian records and historical books that it was exectly Zhivuchy who sank the U387. On of the most detailed article about it was published in historical journal Gangut #19 in 1999.I can assume that the name of the uboot was mixed but it is said that atfer been rammed and faired the sub sunk within minutes with with great trim (35-40 degrees) by the stern. So it is oddly enough really that the sub survived. But facts are facts, so thanks again for the information. Hope we`ll stay in touch for another items. For example, what do you think about sinking of U344 by Derzkiy? (or by a Swordfish plane
