The USS Texas didn´t fire on U 203, because the war between the USA and Germany started in the December of 1941, a few days after Pearl Harbour. (Well, if you ignore the fact that american battleships escorted britisch steamers months before the REAL fighting...)
Maybe the crew of the Texas didn´t saw the submarine? Maybe they didn´t sail very fast?`There are lots of reasons why Mützelburg could hunt the battleship for 16 hours.</HTML>
