<HTML>USS Texas was an old battleship, she was commissioned in 1914, even before the first world war broke out.
Her maximum designed speed was 21 knots.

June 1941, the U.S. is not in the war yet, but is escorting convoys half way across the Atlantic to where England takes over the escort duty ( Neutrality Patrol ). Now the following has been claimed in a couple of different books that
I have read but yet when we examined the ship log book in the archive we could not find any reference to being fired on by the German submarine U-203. But they say that on June 20 while escorting a convoy the USS Texas was attacked by
U-203 with a torpedo but luckily it missed.

Yngvi says that there were no shots fired.
now what is the truth?</HTML>
