<HTML>Being a crewman on a P3 Orion and being in countless exercises, and given conditions it\'s easy. They\'re not behind a wall! Can you see 200\' in the fog? Many times you can. The fact remains most u-boats were sunk by aircraft, no matter what the damned depth. I am an aviation ordnanceman. I\'ve set thousands of depth charges, mines, loaded bombs, zuni rockets, 20MM, shrike, sidewinders, walleyes, napalm, CBU\'s, DST\'s, chaff, and any other thing you can think of. Also, alot depends on What you are looking for. Look for your keys, you pass many things, you\'re looking for your damned keys. Look for subs, you\'ll find \'em. What will fool you are some biologicals, like whales.

Hi JD,
At my age very close to 20/20 is pretty good.
You stated: \\\"But many were spotted at that depth, and dispatched.\\\" Since you sound so positive, you will surely be able to give us a few examples as well as the way a WW2 aircraft crew was able to determine that the detected boat was at about 200\\\'. Rgds, RB</HTML>
