<HTML>The U.S. Navy ran an experiment during the war called Project Yahootie, where they attached small lights to the lead edges of some aircraft (I\'ve seen photos of a TBM Avenger rigged out so.) so that their dark siloette would not be visible to the crew of a surfaced U-boat until the aircraft was almost on top of them. I know it worked in theory, but I have no idea if it proved operationaly practical. tjk </HTML>
