The action took place approximately 70miles west of Carnarvon (I\'m not exactly sure of the correct distance) off the West Australian coast. There are a couple of new books out dealing with the sinking of the Sydney. There is a good book review on this site on the latest book by Ian Campbell.
Of some interest here in Australia is the latest report by a research team which claims to have located the site of two shipwrecks in the area of the action.
They are about 90 miles apart with one being located to the north of the other in the direction that the Sydney was seen heading. No firm identification has yet to be determined.
I am interested in this action as my uncle was a crew member of the Sydney when she disappeared.
If any news breaks I will let you know
Regards
