History | Built for the London & North Western Railway Co., Dublin as Hibernia and operated on the Holyhead-Dublin ferry service; renamed Tara when requisitioned by the Royal Navy in August 1914. She was, along with three other similar vessels at Holyhead were all converted locally into armed boarding steamers, each equipped with three 6-pounder guns.
