There are a number of clubs that participate in combat sorties. Most of these are surface ships firing BB size shot via compressed gas guns. They are usually built in combat scale of 1:144. As far as submarine are concerned, we members of the SubCommittee are developing a combat type contest which will involve firing torpedoes at a Liberty or merchant vessel programed to sink upon receiving a hit. Our torpedoes are non-exploding and will only activate a pressure sensing strip along the water line of the target vessel. This should be a neat trick and will add some more interest to our annual regatta in Groton, CT.
