Hi Mike,
Assume you are talking about a type IX (A,B,C etc.) boat, which cannot automatically be identified by their various conning tower configurations, since almost all were modified during the war (if the boat lived long enough). If you are looking at photos, you will need to know when it was taken unless you can identify individual tower markings of the boats insignia. Rgds, RB
