According to my references, the boats were intended to be painted light grey above the waterline with a black boot-topping (on the waterline) and antifouling beneath. More often than not, the boot topping was omitted and the antifouling continued further up the hull side, resulting in a two-colour division. From what I can ascertain, the antifouling was dark grey. presumably the colour profiles show it to be red in order to give a more visially attractive effect. I would of course be happy to rectify these comments if anyone out there has the correct information.
