Actually the price (their site says kit form is EUR 1800) isn't that far off. I bought a 32nd Parallel VIIC kit about five years ago, and as I recall, it was a little under USD$1k, and not nearly as detailed. OTOH, that price included motors, ballast pumps, seals, stuffing boxes, and various other accoutrements necessary to make it seaworthy (pondworthy?)

And the finished model came out 6'8" long, weighs about 80 pounds with 2 gel cell batteries. An impressive size for a model, if you can find a place to keep it.

Looking at the Andrea photos, one thing seemed out of place. The hull appears to be riveted. Didn't the VII have a welded hull?
