There's a site called www.fineartmodels.com that has some decent pics of their 1/96 U-boat model. There's some decent shots of the snort and you can probably use common reference points to determine the dimensions.

I'm sitting here staring at these same photos wondering if I really want to hack a hole into the deck of my Amati VII and do the same thing...probably not...Good Luck!
