Hi all,
I remember seeing a documentary on the History Channel with regard to this topic. The documentary discussed Wurther. Wurther actually knew how to fully complete the atomic bomb for Germany but sabotaged his own work by creating false not-working formulas to avoid Hitler using such a device as Wurther was opposed to Hitler (I also believe he was a quarter j ewish and was allowed to stay as he was a top professor and atomic engineer).
Wurther is the real hero of the story and hew subsequently captured and worked for the US. He was held hostage for a while in England where he was spied upon through microphones in an elaborate mansion. From these recordings it was evident how close the Germans were to completing the bomb.
Wurther had actually figured out the chain reaction formula for the bomb and how to trigger that reaction.
Hope that sheds light on the subject. I don't remember the name of the documentary but it seemed official and fully credible.
Best regards,
Fin Bonset
