Hello, I am researching a novel and would like to verify that by 1915, the British could pick up sounds of a submerged U-boat in movement at a range of up to 2 miles, but that hydrophones could not be used while the hunting vessel was moving. Also, would also like to verify that by 1917, hydrophones were developed that could be used while vessel was moving at slow speed. Any comments on this information would be appreciated. Got information from book titled, "The U-boat Wars 1916-1945" by John Terraine.
