The allies developed an acoustic anti submarine Torpedoe that the German's apparently never caught on to. The torpedoe had several names to keep the secret variously "cutie" and Mk24 mine depending on lauch platform. It was operational before the introduction of the Sound King, which only operated in the surface enviornment.
I suspect the numbers of Torpedoes that hit was not a function of the accuracy of TDC vs the German equivalent. The US took a very long time to correct it's torp problems. And other variables were at least as inmortant.
Certainly the survival rate was much better in the US boats even if the stats on Geman boats look better.
