U-Boat officer designations.

Hi,

Could anyone help me with this:

I have a book on the Type XXI and it names the types of officers on board as

Commander, 1 LI, 2WA, 1LA , 1 BA.

I was wondering what these abreviations stand for... I know LI is cheif engineer
and WA are watch officers and i assume LA is an engineering watch officer..but
BA? Anybody got any ideas?
