Scuttling Explosives-Booby Traps

I would like to thank Don Baker and several others for heading me in the right direction on this topic, however I thurst for more detailed information. I find it odd the the net does not have anything listed in the technology section, it might be but the search portion is done right now.

Well this is what I would like to know:

When did they start installing them?
Who installed them, at the docks, yards while under construction etc.?
Who know the locations and could activate them?
What did they contain, was one enough to blow up the boat?
Did any go off from depth charge attacks?
What was the locations on type VII or IX?
