With decks awash would mean the exhausts to be abt 2-3 feet underwater. My guess would be, the diesels would be able to handle the backpressure without problem for a limited time, particularly with way on creating additional suction with slipstream. Suspect, eventually exhaust temps will go to high, speed will be down due to increased resistance and fuel cons. will be up. Rgds, RB
PS: Mind you, under normal surface trim the boat rolls like a pig in a normal Atlantic swell because of very low megacentric height (stiff) - thus the exhausts regularly spend time several feet under water with each roll. My plans do not show, if the exhaust ports were cross-linked P&S underneath the casing above the pressure hull. It would make sense, if only for backpressure relief.
