While reading Walter M.'s write-up on the last voyage of the U-234, I noticed that one of the passengers was August Bringwald, a german engineer who wound up in this country after WWII. In 1960-1962, i was a young engineer at the Republic Aviation Company, on Long Island. My boss, who was in charge of much of the assembly engineering of the earlier models of the F-105, was the same Mr. Bringwald. He was a gentleman, a good boss to work for, and on one or two occasions when we were working late on fixes for early problems, had some interesting tales about his voyage on the U-234. I hope that he lived long and well.
