Thanks again R.K.
The wolves* may lose their teeth but not their habits.
Present day Russian (formerly Soviet) heavy mortars are two millimetres oversized compared to NATO ones, and they DO HAVE fire tables for undersized mortar grenades. When an area is to be shell-saturated precision is not so important :-)
Back on topic: if the lacth you mentioned is not standardized, it seems impossible to use \"foreign\" torpedoes.
An other question: torpedoes have some sensitive gyroscopical equipment. A gyroscope takes time to fully activate: maybe minutes or at least many seconds. (I know this from my aviation experience).
Did torpedoes’ gyroscopical equipment need some kind of warm or wind up before being launched? What if a launch is aborted? Did they extract the \"fish\" from the tube and remove the pistol? Did they sail with loaded tubes or not?
Greetings and thanks
