Type II Warload; Kiel Canal Transit

Greetings:
I have two questions that perhaps someone might answer for me:
1. Did the Type II\'s carry 5 or 6 torpedoes? I noticed that uboat.net indicates 5, while two books I\'ve seen indicate 6. Any idea which number might be correct? Is it possible that they could carry a max of 6, but in practice only carried 5 on war patrols, due to provisioning or other limitations?
2. Does anyone have an idea how long it took to transit the Kiel Canal after putting out of Kiel?
Regards,
Dave Prucha
