Ops off Zululand, South Africa

There was considerable U-boat activity off the coast of South Africa - much near Cape Town, but also north - between Durban and Lourenco Marques in Mozambique, a stretch known as the Zululand coast. Various U-boats and several U-cruisers did much damage off that coast, sinking ships such as the Mount Helmos and the Nova Scotia, amongst many others.
I am trying to establish the truth of several rumours I have heard. One is of a U-boat wreck off the Zululand coast, and the other is the story of a U-boat being attacked close inshore near St Lucia by a Catalina flying boat of (probably) 262 Squadron RAF. We are aware of the sinking of U-197 under KptLt Bartels south of Madagscar and east of St Lucia, by Catalina flying boats from 262 Sqn.
Any information will be welcome
