Re: MG34 on Uboats

Very few u-boats overall carried this MG as it lacked the range and hitting power to shoot down an attacking plane . Most where used early in the war and was good mostly for crew morale . I have seen pictures with 1 and sometimes 2 MG 34's mounted along the conning tower edge . I have also seen pictures of the MG 42 and other aircraft MG's in use aboard u-boats . Since a spare MG took up a lot of space and was of limited use only spare barrels and the small box of spare parts were taken on board .
