Thanks for the responses from everyone at the forum.

I received an e-mail from Ken Dunn detailing many individuals who might have leads on finding a U-boat veteran in the Los Angeles area. He mentioned Timothy Mulligan among many others.

I've read many books about the U-boat war, but when I was asked "how does this gadget work" I couldn't come up with an honest reply.

The film portrays the German crew of the U-boat in a sympathetic light and will be truer to the spirit of the original crews than in "U-571".
