Torpedo detonation???
Date: February 19, 2003 11:27AM

Don't know if this has been covered; if it has, sorry.

Once the pistol, either contact or magnetic, made "contact" -- as in the electric wires crossing or touching (I've read two descriptions of this) what was the path of events that led to the explosion.

I assume that the touching of the wires led to a surge of electricity. Does anyone know how much electricity? How long was the wire that led to the explosive charge? The charge, I take it, was behind the nose of the torpedo, but the battery was further back...so how long was the other wire?

And, just to be really technical about it, do we know the colors of the wires and how they were insulated?

Cheers,
Nathan
