WWII Stirling Engine ?

The problem with DE subs is the need to surface or snorkel to run the diesels and charge batteries, modern DE subs like the Nordic Viking (see [www.kockums.se]) solve this problem using AIP technology, the most proven of these tech´s is the Stirling Engine

Now to my question, given that the principles behind the stirling engine goes back to the 1820´s, could germany have produced stirlings for the uboat force ?
If so, what would have been the effect on the war ??
would the bloodbath of the bay of biscay still have happened ?
What are your thoughts ?
