Gentlemen,
I suggest that the U-boat attacked by HERRING was probably U 66 (KL Markworth)returning to Lorient. She reported two depth charges at 0045/21 March near BF 8413 (position at midnight) or approximately 44°39 N /07°34 W (HERRING had reported firing two stern torpedoes and these were followed by two explosions at 0040/21 in 44°13 N/08°23 W). The positions do not quite match but errors in positions were not uncommon at the time.
