Operations in the Gulf of Maine

I'm looking for any info or accounts of operations in the gulf of Maine. Particulary around Portland Maine area. I have heard several accounts of U-boat sailors bodies washing ashore in the Casco bay islands. I also have a wooden crate with a Third Reich stencil on it, found in a sealed Bunker On Jewel Island in Casco bay. I'm not sure the crate is an authentic crate from a U-boat or not.
