u-boat barometers

I have observed many German Naval barometers manufactured by Lufft and Fuess .Most measure pressures in millibars(mb).Most common among these are dials with a range of 8-900 up to 1080-90 mb.More rare is the scale 800 to 1500 mb. While only a hunch, I suspect the latter to be more likely the type used on subs as a result of the larger "artificial" range for the "micro climate" found on board when submerged.Anyone have definitive info on this? Thanks.
