GUPPY 1A rated submerged speed on one-half-hour rate was 15 knots. Fleet snorkel conversions rated submerged speed on one-half-hour rate was 9 knots.
I qualified in Submarines on USS Cusk SS-348 in 1962. She was the last fleet snorkel conversion for USN service and was converted in 1954. I thouroughly enjoyed my service on her.
FYI, two GUPPY II's are still operational in Taiwan Navy. Ex- Tusk SS-426, and Ex-Cutlass SS-478. You can see photo's of them in 2007 Janes fighting Ships.
