Hello
In the german article about the XXI uboat, which is more detailed that
the one found in en.wikipedia.org, it is stated that every crew member
had its own bunk.
On the other hand in the site
[ipmsstockholm.org]
It is stated there were 51 bunks for 58 hands
I downloaded the (very tiny) blueprint of the XXI, which can be found
[www.uboatnet.de]
According to that section 4 (where the crew sleeps) has a length of
5.3 meters. It seems there are a group of 3 (or 6) bunks. On page 14
of that site one can see a cross section of section 4 and I conclude
that group only consists of 3 bunks not of 6, so that makes all
together only 12 bunks in section 4.
Then there is section 6, with a small bath and more bunks (for the
captain etc) however I cannot see how the remaining 46 bunks would fit
in that section. Can anybody comment on this please.
