Torpedo stowage was: 4 in forward tubes; 8 slung in a forward torpedo compartment; 1 in aft tube; 1 in reserve in aft torpedo compartment. Some boats were able to carry more in external container, below the casing forward and aft, but this was often discontinued because of problems in shipping these torpedoes in board, affecting the presurized depth keeping aparatus in the torpedo
