Type VIIC carried 14 torpedeos:
- 4 in forward torpedo tubes
- 4 in forward torpedo room - on both side of compartment, in place of crew bunks
- 2 under floor of forward torpedo room
- 1 in aft torpedo tube
- 1 between shafts and electric motors in aft torpedo room
- 1 in external container on forward upper deck
- 1 in external container on aft upper deck
In later years of war, spare torpedoes were not carried in external containers
because of vulnerability of these torpedoes to depth charges explosions.
Moreover, because of the threat of allied aircrafts, there were no opportunity
to load these torpedoes into the boat - these operation required spending
a lot of time on the surface, when the boat was completely defenseless.

Don't know exact times - I suppose it took minimum 20 min to reload
one torpedo on type VIIC. The type XXI had hydraulic reload system,
which signinfcantly speed up the reload process.

Type VIIC was provided with longitudinal and transversal transports
splints with hoists, which allowed for some flexibility - of course
only when there was enough room for all operations.
