TYPE IID

Hi
Can anyone help me with the type IID MAGNETIC COMPASS, housing forward of the tower?
How many of the 16 type d's were fitted with this housing and when were they first fitted. The only foto I have seen is of the U-138 (which strangely has the guard rails on the bridge much lower than the others) and possibly the U-137!
Is there anywhere or book which gives details of all the types IID.
Have looked through past messages on here with no luck.
