Hi
Maybe you can help me with this question.
The information I have is, A destroyer picked up an asdic contact at 1600 yards and shortly after a u-boat was sighted. The u-boat was stationary, at 800 yards the u-boat was illuminated with a search light. At 500 yards the u-boat dived. My question is, for what reason was the destroyer not picked up earlier? the date is Oct 1942, and I believe the u-boat should have been equiped with a Metox Receiver? It was evening, at what distant would a look out hear or spot a destroyer in the evening? considering that our u-boat was stationary busy recharging.
Thank you!
