AA guns and cannon corrosion of vital parts

With 20mm up to 5 inch guns mounted on deck, how can these guns not be rusted or corroded solid in one week of salt water immersion?
I can see no way unless the delicate mechanisms are removed prior to submergence and re installed prior to firing.
I need a sub-mariner gunners mate to answer this.
