Hello Bezukhov:

I don't know about German torpedoes being launched without compressed air, but the
U.S.Navy launched Mark 27 passive acoustic torpedoes without using compressed air in the last months of WWII in the Pacific. All Mark 27s were "swim-out" weapons.
