Dear Roger,

Those diesels were not only used in the Type VII WWII2 German uboats, but for instance also in the Type XXI.

The MAN M6V 40/60 was a 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine with a cylinder diameter of 400mm and a piston stroke of 460mm (cf. the '40/60' in the name...).
The piston displacement or cylinder capacity (Pi*diameter*stroke) was 57,8 litres per cylinder.
