There is no strong evidence that TURBULENT reached the Corsican coast and later the Sardinian coast. The attack on PRINCIPESSA MAFALDA and subsequent A/S hunt actually involved the French submarine CASABIANCA. TURBULENT was to have operated near Naples until PM/12 March, she was unlikely to have been off Corsica at the time. Since the sinking of SAN VINCENZO on 1 March, there was no attack that can be attributed to her and this indicates probably that she was lost in the first days of March, probably mined off the Italian coast.
