USS Mackerel L.I. attack 1941

<HTML>A story circulates that the above submarine with its sister, Marlin attacked and sank the supposedly Free French supersubmarine SURCOUF in Long Island Sound on 19 Feb 1941. Info on this sensitive incident should now be available. Anyone ever hear anything about this? Next is the Nat. Archives.</HTML>
