You can obtain a copy of your father's Naval Certificate of Service (form CNS 1243) by going to the National Archives web site - www.archives.ca. Obtain a copy of the application form by following the military links. Mail in the form and wait for up to 8 months - they're busy! - and it will appear in the mail.
You will probably need his service number. It may be on documents you already have. CNS 1243 will tell you where he served, the dates and his rank.
The medals he is entitled to will be listed page one. He should only have one Atlantic Star, the other may be the 1939-45 star. The volunteer medal is the CVSM - Cdn Vol Service Medal. He should also have the War Medal.
Let's us know how this goes.
