Also, the 28th of September was the date when the Luftwaffe launched a blanket air raid across the main harbour at Leningrad, where the huge naval base was devestated, and most of the Baltic fleet was damaged or destroyed. Repeat raids finished the job, putting the fleet out of action for over a year.
